Manuel Neuer

Why this one matters.

“Manuel Neuer did not simply guard the goal — he rebuilt the position. A product of Schalke 04's academy in his native Gelsenkirchen, he took the Bundesliga by storm with his charging, line-breaking saves before joining Bayern Munich in 2011, where he immediately anchored the 2013 treble side that lifted the European Cup at Wembley. A year later in Brazil he gave the world the definitive sweeper-keeper performance: racing off his line, reading the pitch like a libero, and winning the Golden Glove as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in the Rio final. His standing among peers was such that, as this card's back recounts, a 2017 France Football poll of five goalkeeping legends gave Neuer every single first-place vote — more than doubling the points of the runner-up — and he inherited the national captaincy after Philipp Lahm's retirement. Six IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper awards (five straight from 2013 to 2017, plus 2020) and The Best FIFA Men's Goalkeeper followed, crowned by a second Bayern treble and the 2020 Champions League final win over Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon. This Eminence masterpiece pairs a massive match-worn Bayern crest patch with a bold on-card gold autograph at the Platinum one-of-one tier, encapsulated by PSA/DNA Authentic with Auto 8 — the most premium imaginable tribute to the goalkeeper who taught the sport that number ones could play with their feet too.”
