Why this one matters.
“Nestled in the Lancashire mill town of Burnley, Turf Moor is a ground of records and resilience. The Clarets first played football there in 1883, making it — as this card's back states — the longest continuously used ground of any team to appear in the Premier League's history, and the longest-serving football stadium in the English top division. Even before Burnley arrived, the site had hosted cricket for more than 50 years, and that sense of sporting continuity lives on in a venue that has watched the club scale the highest peaks and survive the deepest valleys. Burnley were champions of England in 1920 and 1960, and one of the founding 12 members of the Football League in 1888; under Sean Dyche they became a byword for stubborn, honest Premier League survival, with Turf Moor's 21,944 crowd roaring them on from the Bob Lord and Jimmy McIlroy Stands. The giant blue "BURNLEY" lettering across the stand, captured on this card alongside the pitch-side crest, is one of English football's most recognisable sights. Panini's Stadiums insert preserves it on the ultra-short Gold Power Prizm, limited to just five copies worldwide; this 5/5 last-off-the-line example, graded PSA MINT 9, is a must-have for Clarets supporters and serious collectors of Britain's historic football grounds.”
